FIGHTING HUNGER, ONE MEAL AT A TIME!
Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting hunger. Every 1 in 8 Americans struggle with food insecurity, and every 1 in 4 residents of Troy Alabama struggle with hunger. Food insecurity affects every community, race, and age. The Gamma Sigma chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta has made it our goal to do everything we can to be a part of the solution! We partner with Feeding America and Meals on Wheels to promote service nationally, as well as right here in our community of Troy, Alabama. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to impact the community that has poured so much into us!
A NOTE FROM OUR
Vice President of Philanthropy
Hey! My name is Elle Caroline Blackmon and I have the wonderful privilege of serving Gamma Sigma as the Vice President of Philanthropy. Leading my sisters in such a purpose is one of my greatest honors. I could not be more thankful to work alongside women who value contributing to a cause much bigger than themselves. The joy of service is so evident through Alpha Gam and I am blessed to see that come to fruition first hand in the Troy Community!
Nationally, Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting food insecurity. We put this cause into action through partnerships with organizations like Rise Against Hunger, Feeding America, and Meals On Wheels. Gamma Sigma hosts fundraisers each semester like “Fall Fest” and “Hotdogs Against Hunger” encouraging collaboration within the entire Greek community at Troy in our fight against hunger. Our hands-on service starts locally on campus with Campus Kitchens and Trojan Pantry while extending to the Pike County area through food drives and meal distributions. These opportunities could not be possible without the women AGD and their dedication to ending food insecurity. Serving as a leader amongst such willing, inspiring, and passionate girls gives me eager assurance that we will continue to serve our community with full plates, full hearts, and full minds!
