FIGHTING HUNGER one meal at a time

Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting hunger. Every 1 in 8 Americans struggle with food insecurity, and every 1 in 4 residents of Troy Alabama struggle with hunger. Food insecurity affects every community, race, and age. The Gamma Sigma chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta has made it our goal to do everything we can to be a part of the solution! We partner with Feeding America and Meals on Wheels to promote service nationally, as well as right here in our community of Troy, Alabama. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to impact the community that has poured so much into us! Each year we have the opportunity to hold two philanthropy fundraising events! “Fall Fest” is such an exciting event to the sisters of Gamma Sigma because we are able to host a campus wide dance competition while also raising money for our philanthropy! This spring, we were able to begin our first annual “Party with a Purpose: Get Fancy and Fight Hunger with AGD”. This event, similar to a benefit ball, promoted inclusivity across campus organizations and fellowship, all while we came together to fight food insecurity! We are so grateful to have a sisterhood that we can support and make a hands-on impact in and outside of the Troy community!

Vp of philanthropy

Hi! My name is Emily Turner, and I get the absolute joy and honor to serve as the Vice President of Philanthropy for Alpha Gamma Delta at Troy University! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue the legacy of purpose and dedication to service demonstrated in the Gamma Sigma chapter, and I am honored to lead my sisters as we serve our community together. It is so valuable to me that we have a chapter that intentionally works hands on in the Troy community!

Nationally, Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting food insecurity. We do this by partnering with Feeding America and Meals On Wheels. The Gamma Sigma chapter works diligently to support the community we have been placed in by hosting fundraisers, such as “Fall Fest” and “Party with a Purpose”, leading hands-on community focused service events, and partnering with organizations such as the Trojan Pantry, Rise Against Hunger, Backpack for Kids, Campus Kitchen, and so many more! The compassion and drive of our members is what truly allows these opportunities to be fulfilled! I am overjoyed to serve as a leader alongside the most inspiring girls in this chapter and know that because of the girls within Gamma Sigma we can offer our community full plates, full hearts, and full minds!
